If Munduk has a signature, it's falling water. The ravines around the village are threaded with some of Bali's most beautiful cascades, most within a short drive or hike.
The ones to see
- Banyumala Twin Waterfalls, a wide, photogenic double cascade with a shallow pool for swimming, about 15 minutes from Munduk. A favourite.
- Melanting Waterfall, one of the highest single-drop falls in Bali, plunging roughly 100 metres; spectacular in the wet season.
- Munduk Waterfall, the classic on the Munduk trek, with a new fall opening along the route in 2026.
- Banyuatis Waterfall, quieter and free to enter, a 20-minute hike to a swimmable pool.
- Sekumpul, Bali's tallest, a bigger half-day adventure a short drive away.
Days in Munduk revolve around waterfalls, jungle trails and long lunches at local warungs.
Make a morning of it
The classic Munduk waterfall trek links several falls through coffee and clove gardens, cool, green and largely crowd-free. Bring shoes with grip and go early.
It's the kind of morning that's a ten-minute drive from The Heights Munduk, and a reminder of why the highland is worth living in, not just visiting.
The Heights Munduk
Own a piece of the highlands.
Eight hillside villas above the clouds, private pool, hot plunge, sauna and fireplace in each. One hour from North Bali's new international gateway. Handover set for December 2027.
